How do I get Dad to shower without an argument?
My dad has dementia and has recently started refusing to shower or change his clothes. He gets upset whenever I bring it up and tells me that he already showered, even when I know he hasn't. I've tried reminding him, giving him choices, and waiting until later in the day, but we still end up arguing about it. Has anyone found a way to help with personal care without making their loved one feel embarrassed or like they're being bossed around?

How do I handle my mom asking the same question over and over?
My mom has started asking me the same questions every few minutes, especially about when my dad is coming home, even though he passed away several years ago. I know she isn't doing it to frustrate me, but after hearing the same question twenty times I sometimes lose my patience and then feel terrible about it. Should I keep explaining the situation every time, or is it better to redirect her attention? I'd really appreciate hearing what has worked for other families dealing with repetitive quest... more
