Mom is sleeping almost all day — should I be concerned?
My mother has moderate dementia and over the past week she has started sleeping much more than usual. She used to get up around 8:00 every morning, but now she sometimes sleeps until noon and takes several naps during the afternoon. When she is awake, she seems about as alert as she normally is, and she is still eating and drinking. Is increased sleep something that can happen as dementia progresses, or is a sudden change like this something I should call her doctor about?

When should I call the doctor about changes in Dad's behavior?
My dad has Alzheimer's and over the last two days he has become much more confused and agitated than usual. He is also getting up several times during the night and seems to be having trouble following conversations that he normally understands. I'm not sure whether this is simply progression of the dementia or something else that needs medical attention. What kinds of sudden changes should caregivers consider a reason to call the doctor or seek urgent help?

Dealing with Sundowning Syndrome
My father experiences increased confusion and agitation in the evenings. His doctor called it sundowning. We've tried keeping lights on and maintaining a calm environment. Has anyone found other effective strategies? It's really challenging for our family.
